Construction and other industrial sectors face persistent challenges related to safety, workforce retention, and productivity, which are increasingly intensified by the demand for advanced technical and professional skills in technology-driven work environments. Although these industries are investing in sensing and data-enabled systems to support informed decision-making, a critical gap remains in workforce readiness to develop and sustain these solutions.

This research area of the SI³ Lab focuses on advancing education and workforce development frameworks that align emerging technologies with industry-relevant competencies to strengthen safety, efficiency, and workforce sustainability.
