Overview

Construction automation is increasingly explored as a pathway to enhance productivity, improve safety, and strengthen collaboration among project stakeholders, particularly on large-scale projects in high-risk working conditions such as construction. This research thrust of the (SI)³ research lab advances the development and integration of automated and intelligent construction systems that support resilient, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure delivery.

It also extends beyond terrestrial applications to examine the role of automation and smart construction technologies in enabling the design and construction of sophisticated structures in armed and extraterrestrial environments, positioning construction research at the frontier of future infrastructure systems.
